This free three day workshop offers theatre training for young people aged 14-24 years. Suitable for all levels of experience, it’s led by professional tutors from the Massive teaching team. You will learn a wide range of theatre foundation skills and techniques, and explore different ways of making theatre pieces using your own ideas and stories. The workshop runs from 10am to 4pm each day at Mangere War Memorial Hall in Mangere Bridge.
TUTORS: Stef Fink and Celeste De-Freitas
Stef Fink joined the company in 2010 as a member of Massive Nui Ensemble, going on to perform in ‘The Island’ and ‘Chance to Ignite.’ She took part in the Director’s Lab 2016/17 and had her directorial debut in 2018 at Basement Theatre, with Courtney Rose Brown’s ‘The First Time’ (also part of Toi Wahine festival in Hamilton). In 2019 Stef directed ‘Like a River,’ a new Massive emerging artists’ show written by Jo Randerson.
Celeste De-Freitas has been with Massive Company since 2016 when she joined Massive Nui Ensemble. She performed in the emerging artists’ shows ‘Chance to Ignite’ (2017) and ‘Sightings’ (2018). Celeste trained as a tutor in 2018, and is now part of the Massive teaching team. She recently performed in the touring production of "I am Māori," directed by Nancy Brunning for Young and Hungry.
