This free two day workshop offers theatre training for young people aged 14-24 years. Suitable for all levels of experience, it’s led by professional tutors from the Massive teaching team. You will learn a wide range of theatre foundation skills and techniques, and explore different ways of making theatre pieces using your own ideas and stories. The workshop runs from 10am to 4pm each day.
TUTORS: Margaret-Mary Hollins and Carla Martell
Margaret-Mary Hollins is an experienced actor, director and tutor who has been involved with Massive for many years. As well as being a guest tutor on many Massive productions, she tutors on the Massive Nui Ensemble emerging artists’ programme. Outside of Massive, she has recently been working with Auckland Theatre Company, MIXIT and Red Leap. Margaret-Mary is the Artistic Director of Marvellous Theatre Group and House of Hudson, with whom she is currently developing a new work, ‘The Lights Out Project.’
Carla Martell is a choreographer, tutor and director who over the years has been involved in over ten Massive productions, as well as varied roles with companies such as New Zealand Opera, Auckland Theatre Company and Touch Compass Dance Company. Carla is a longstanding tutor for Massive Nui Ensemble, and the co-director of ‘Babble,’ performed as part of Auckland Arts Festival 2020.
