If you’ve never taken part in a Massive workshop, what are you waiting for?? With several to choose from and most completely free, our Marketing and Development Manager, Chris Connolly, walks you through what we have on offer to help you decide which is the perfect one for you.
Learning the Massive way means working with others, creating pieces from your own experiences and putting ‘play’ at the forefront of everything. Here are the workshops that are available to register for online today.
MASSIVE FOUNDATIONS
(AGES 14-25)
These free workshops are tailored for rangatahi aged 14 to 25, regardless of your prior experience in theatre. Participants delve into acting, improvisation and movement, using your own stories to craft compelling performances. The environment is supportive and playful, aiming to build confidence, creativity and a strong connection among participants. Workshops are still available in Auckland and Waikato, Wellington and Rotorua throughout the rest of the year.
MASSIVE ESSENTIALS
(AGES 20+)
Open to individuals aged 20 and above, with no upper age limit, Massive Essentials welcomes everyone from beginners to seasoned practitioners. These weekend workshops focus on the foundational skills and unique methodologies that define Massive's theatre-making. The content evolves with each session, ensuring fresh experiences for returning participants. While there's no set fee, a koha is appreciated.
TEACHER AND PRACTITIONER WORKSHOPS
Designed exclusively for educators and theatre practitioners, these paid professional development sessions are both practical and revitalising – but also a heap of fun. Led by Massive’s Artistic Director Sam Scott, the workshops offer tools and techniques applicable in classrooms, workshops and rehearsals. Refresh your creative spirit whilst exploring the fundamental techniques at the heart of Massive’s work, enabling you to create vibrant and relevant theatre pieces with your students.
MASSIVE MAKING IN SCHOOLS
We proudly offer bespoke in-school workshops tailored to the needs of secondary school students. These sessions introduce students to Massive's devising processes, encouraging them to generate material and think creatively about theatre-making. Whether as a one-off experience or the start of a devising unit, these workshops aim to inspire and elevate students' engagement with the performing arts. Get in touch to enquire about these unique workshops in which we offer nationally and internationally.
Whether you want a taste of Massive or already know the flavour and are keen to come back for more, we have plenty of workshops available throughout the rest of 2025. Do you have a niche requirement and don’t see the one that’s quite right for you? Contact us today and let us know exactly what you’re looking for.
