MASSIVE MAKING

Workshops for
secondary school students

WHAT IS A
MASSIVE MAKING?

Massive Making is a bespoke workshop, designed specifically for you and your students that put students in the ‘making’ seat. Book workshops from 3 hours to multiple days long.

Massive Theatre Company specialises in teaching devising processes for theatre-making, in which students learn how to create work using their own relevant and meaningful content.

Our Massive Making workshops are particularly great for scholarship students.

If you are interested in other areas of theatre craft and processes, we will design a workshop to suit.

  • Pre-workshop consultations (by phone or in-person)
  • Supporting material
  • Workshop delivery by professional teaching artists
  • Workshop follow up

Massive Making Request

Artistic Director Sam Scott consults with you to design the best possible theatre workshop for your students’ needs. They are often used as a one-off experience of our practice, which may go on to influence the students’ future devising projects. They are also useful at the beginning of a devising unit of work, to get the students generating material and thinking around how and what they might create.

What Teachers Say

Hear from those who we have delivered a Massive Making to

Our students were able to experience true ‘authenticity’ in the approach, nature and outcomes from their work. The material generated, and processes followed, opened our students’ eyes up to what a day in the life of performer/actor/theatre maker really involves out the industry and gave them the hunger to shift their commitment and impulses within their own work to a new level of real heart and impact.

I want to be able explain to Drama teachers that the process and mahi Massive do with students and teachers can not only be successfully applied within the classroom but as a practitioner for Scholarship Drama students.

My boys were proud when they went to Scholarship workshops to say they were using Massive Theatre Company practice for their devised pieces and felt validated that their stories were being told.

A massive "thank you" for joining our drama class this week and giving them such insight into the Devising process.  It has been wonderful to see that their understanding has taken another shift and you have inspired them to investigate themes from their own point of view.  You have lit the spark, thank you!

Thank you so much for your time, expertise and enthusiasm - it's invaluable!
