I keep returning to these Massive workshops… first time I was scared to be somewhere I didn’t belong. Now I’m hooked! I want to be able to communicate with self-expression and to engage with good humour, fun and creativity when I work in the school context, and hope this style of communication may encourage rangatahi to be comfortable in their own skin too. It’s about the value of creativity and the importance of ‘play’ in the everyday environment.

I want to be able explain to Drama teachers that the process and mahi Massive do with students and teachers can not only be successfully applied within the classroom but as a practitioner for Scholarship Drama students. My boys were proud when they went to Scholarship workshops to say they were using Massive Theatre Company practice for their devised pieces and felt validated that their stories were being told.

This is the best Professional Development I access each year, and I always come away inspired and excited to create new content for my students. Sam is an amazing facilitator who is genuinely interested in developing each teacher’s skills, and is so open with her resources.

It’s so exciting to get new and different ideas for working with teenagers in the performing arts. I left the Massive workshop excited to go back to work and try new ideas, especially for boys in my year 9 class. Sam Scott has been inspiring me for over a decade and I highly, highly recommend attending if you can!

Thank you for the fabulous Massive Theatre workshop. It was incredibly engaging and packed full of useful drama teaching ideas and inspiration. I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and was honestly buzzing for days afterwards with excitement and creative energy.
Denyce created such a positive and inspiring atmosphere, and I came away feeling very motivated to try new ideas with students.

A Massive Company workshop will reignite your own creative ‘fighting spirit,’ so that you can encourage the rangatahi in your classes to do the same.

Generating performance material, using the carefully scaffolded structures that Sam with Massive Theatre advocates, makes the process readily accessible for the classroom teacher to use or adapt. The strategies appear deceptively simplistic whilst at the same time resonate with depth and nuance.

The Massive Teach+Lead workshops are professional development workshops for drama teachers, dance teachers, and theatre practitioners, as well as anyone who uses creativity, movement, or play in their work. It’s suitable for all experience levels and focuses on practical tools for leading workshops, the classroom and rehearsal space.
Participants learn hands-on theatre-making processes used by Massive Theatre Company, including devising techniques, ensemble-building exercises, and physical performance practices. The workshop is highly practical, with a focus on creating bold, relevant work and applying these methods directly with students.
The workshops are interactive and experiential, meaning you learn by actively participating rather than observing. They emphasize play, movement, and creativity, while providing strategies and ideas you can take straight back into your teaching practice.
