Frequently Asked Questions

What are Massive Essentials workshops and who can join?

Massive Essentials are theatre workshops for adults aged 20+ with no upper age limit, open to anyone interested in learning how Massive Theatre Company creates original performance work. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced performer, all levels are welcome.

Do I need acting experience to attend Massive Essentials?

No experience is required. Massive Essentials workshops are designed for everyone, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners, making them ideal if you want to explore theatre-making, develop skills, or reconnect with creativity.

What will I learn in a Massive Essentials workshop?

You’ll learn core theatre-making skills and Massive’s unique creative process, including devising work from personal stories, physical performance, and collaborative techniques. Workshops are typically run over weekends and led by our professional Teaching Artists, with content evolving each time so returning participants continue to learn.

I have specific access needs / physical limitations. Can I still take part in a workshop?

Yes! If you have a long-term impairment, or are recovering from an injury, we will work with you to make the workshop as accessible as possible. Please let us know all about your specific needs when you book for your workshop (or get in touch with us ahead of registering) and we will do our best to ensure the workshop is rewarding, accessible, and caters to your abilities.

Can I partially attend a Essentials workshop?

No. Essentials are only available for participants who are able to attend all days in full. These workshops are popular and we want participants who are fully committed to the experience.

How do I cancel my booking?

If you have booked and can no longer attend please contact us as soon as possible at info@massivecompany.co.nz. We often have waiting lists for our workshops, so the sooner you let us know that you can't attend the more likely we are to be able to offer the spot to someone else.
