The Massive Way
These are the pou that guide us, that propel our work, and that ground us in our artistic creation.
We create work of excellence as a company & individuals. When work gets tough & we're tired, we never settle. It takes bloody hard work to make theatre, & we love that.
We try anything & everything to find the gold & give it 100% commitment. We dive into the work even when the outcome is unclear or unknown. We know that beyond that uncertainty we might just find that theatre gold.

Everyone in Massive owns the work & their place within it. Massive is its people. We care deeply about each Massive member & we walk alongside each other. Massive embraces and welcomes our wider community.

We are vital & present in all we do. We have a no bullshit attitude & love real stories. Our mahi tells our stories, it makes sense of our lives & world. We voice truths & perspectives that need to be shared. We strive to be deeply seen.

We love people who love to play. We love to be competitive, irreverent & generous. Playing is at the heart of everything we do & is woven into the fabric of our daily practice.

We have big energy, excitement & hunger for the mahi. We are motivated to play pretend, to experiment, & to perform. We are fiercely collaborative & give it our all as an ensemble. We are truly passionate about what we do.

Massive is open to all to join in and experience. Workshops are free or low-cost. The door is always open to anyone to come along & observe our mahi. Massive's professional shows are affordable, & sometimes for free or koha. Massive welcomes all who love what we do.

We ask questions & seek out answers about what theatre can be. We always question: “Is this theatrical?” “Why?” “Who do we want to watch?” & “What is the best way to tell the story?” We are a curious company, ever seeking knowledge & understanding.

Massive trains dynamic, generous & vital performers who receive whatever is coming at them & who give back, so the work continues to grow. We value generosity & respect between all.

Great theatre has a good complicité between performers. Complicité is that authentic spark, warmth & connection that we love to experience. Our desire for complicité extends to all our connections, from company members to our partners & collaborators, & our wider whānau.
