Contemporary myth meets urban Auckland – a story of dreams, reality, wants and needs. A sprawling family saga exploring connection, tradition, and the ties that bind us across generations.
Arohaina House is home for a small group of young people bound together by circumstance. The residents of Arohaina discover that finding a house doesn’t always mean finding a home and that dreaming is easier than the real thing.
When Sione Schuster, AKA the Polynesian Disco God, enters the house our make-believe whanau is put to the test. Sharing the house is; Reuben, a Christian with a sex-addiction; Ani and Bennet, a couple of ex street-kids who dream of becoming wedding-planners; the deep thinking Sefa, new girl Becks and troublesome Lenny.
"Stories from the gritty streets of South Auckland tend to feature only in crime headlines, so this large ensemble production is that rare thing – a performance of the human tales from a place often maligned and rarely understood." (Gilbert Wong, Metro)
